Frequently Asked Questions

What is Walton Recovery House for Men?
Walton Recovery House is a nonprofit, transitional recovery living facility for men. We provide structure, accountability, and a safe place for men to focus on recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

Who can stay at the house?
Only men are admitted. We serve adult men who are serious about recovery and willing to live by house rules, contribute to the community, and follow the program.

What is the minimum and maximum length of stay?
The minimum stay is three months, and the maximum is one year. Actual time depends on your progress. The goal is to give you enough structure and support to prepare for independent living.

What is expected of residents?
Every man is expected to live responsibly. That means honesty, accountability, cleanliness, and service to the house. You will have chores, attend meetings, and contribute to the community.

What program do you follow?
We follow the twelve steps of recovery. The program is centered on accountability and building new habits that support sobriety.

Is the Walton Recovery House connected to local history?
Yes. The house is located in the Octagon House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Octagon House was once part of the Underground Railroad, serving as a safe stop for runaway slaves. Today, it carries forward that legacy by offering refuge and support to men in recovery.

How much does it cost to stay?
Residents are expected to cover part of the cost of living in the house. Fees go toward maintaining the home and keeping the program running. Exact amounts can be discussed during the application process.

How do I apply?
You can reach out by phone, email, or Facebook to start the application process. We will guide you through the steps, answer your questions, and help determine if Walton Recovery House is the right fit.

Can family or friends visit?
Visits are limited and must be approved. Recovery comes first, so outside contact is managed in a way that supports each resident’s progress.

What happens after I leave?
Our goal is to prepare you for independence and long-term sobriety. Many men move on to sober living apartments, reconnect with family, or build stable, independent lives after completing their time here.
